Meet the Team - Hayley

Hayley sat on the sofa in the This Is Me office smiling.

When we said we had finished hiring new staff this year, we really and truly meant it. Until we didn’t. As the agency keeps growing, we desperately found ourselves in need of more people to help make sure everything was running smoothly and had to put out the call. Fortunately, we didn’t have to wait too long to find the lovely Hayley, who was looking to get back into work after her youngest son had just started school.

Originally from London, Hayley moved to the North East in 2011 and now lives locally with her husband and three boys. With a background in administration, she also spent five years working as a Police Communications Officer answering emergency and non-emergency calls, both jobs giving her fantastic skills that make her a perfect fit for our team.

While initially not knowing much about This is Me and what we do, Hayley diligently did her research checking out our website and also taking a look at the Access to Work scheme, finding out exactly what it is and how it can help. The more she read, the more excited she became as she realised that the ethos of This is Me sat alongside her own morals and values, something that is necessary when working in this environment. Having similar expectations really does make a difference and allows for a more coherent team.

Hayley has been with us for a month now and is loving being part of the family while getting to grips with her new role. As a people person, she is definitely in the right role, working mainly with the Support Workers, helping get them set up within the agency and also being available for any questions or queries they have. She will also be helping to match them with the clients (having the right connection between the two is vital for a successful working relationship) and will be doing any administrative duties that need to be done in the office.

Creating a positive work/life balance is extremely important to all of us here so when Hayley asked if it would be possible to only work during term time so she could spend the holidays with her family, Michelle was only too happy to agree. With that in mind, Hayley will also be working alongside new staff member Miranda. They will both be familiar with each other’s job roles, with skill sharing being an essential part of working in a small team like this. It ensures that a high-quality service will remain in place at all times and that the clients get the best possible care.

Finding a job that you like doing and that gives you satisfaction isn’t always easy. But even in her short time here, Hayley has found it to be extremely gratifying, knowing that she’s part of a process that is helping to change people’s lives. She’s always found being a mam to be fantastic, but loves having something else in her life that is just as fulfilling and she’s excited to see what’s to come in the future!
